Horseback Riding (Ages 7-14)
Sweet Hills Riding Center is located in West Hills County Park, with over 900 acres of scenic bridle paths for guided trail rides and hiking, 3 outdoor rings plus an indoor riding area. Participate in trail riding, individual riding lessons and horse care.

STEM (Ages 8 -12)
Fun and educational programs including science, technology, engineering, and math. They inspire children to build on their natural curiosity by teaching concepts through hands on learning. Location: At Camp
Lacrosse (Grades 1-4 & 5-8)
Mini-Laxsters Lacrosse is designed to help players build and learn new skills. Players participate without gear so they can acquire a better understanding of the fundamentals of the game before experiencing the next, more advanced level. Skills taught include, scooping, passing and shooting while also getting into the more advanced areas such as dodging and defensive footwork/positioning. Players move around and work with one another in a fun, competitive atmosphere. Location: At Camp
Cooking & Baking
Come learn to cook with us at Celebrations in the Kitchen. Cooking is an important skill and it is lots of fun too! Bake cookies and cupcakes, make pizza, and more — all from scratch. This is a nut-aware facility.

Gymnastics (Grades 1-8)
Tumble your way to fun! During this week-long gymnastics program campers experience activities such as balance beam, vault, uneven bars, tumble track and trampoline. Learn what it’s like to be a gymnast and enjoy time on the giant moon bouncers and slides.

Roller Hockey (Grouped by Age: Grades 1-4 & 5-8)
SkateSafe America uses energetic and experienced coaches to work on hockey skills including fundamentals, strategies, and game play techniques. Enjoy games, scrimmages, and of course fun! The day will start with warm-ups and drills, followed by games and shoot-out challenges. Location: SkateSafe America, 182 Bethpage Sweet Hollow Road, Old Bethpage
Advanced Art (Grades 1-4)
Abrakadoodle Art Education programs focus on helping kids to develop creativity and knowledge of the world of art, color, form, and design using a multi-arts approach to creativity. Feature painting, sculpting, collage, mosaics, sketching, and more! Your child’s imagination will be ignited while learning artistic techniques, fine motor skills, language, cognitive skills, and confidence.

Soccer (Grades 1-4 & 5-8)
This unique program caters to players of all ages. Campers learn soccer skills and play games. All soccer programs focus on knowledge of the game and encourage working as a team. Location: At Camp
Learn to Make a Movie (Grades 1-8)
Do you like watching movies and want to be a part of one? In this five day, hands on course, we will be going over all stages of the movie making process, as well as making an ACTUAL movie. Coming this summer...take home an adventure on DVD starring you!"

Discover Long Island Nature (Grades 1-8)
NYS Park Education Programs are hands-on environmental education programs that are aligned with New York State learning standards. Kids practice problem-solving skills, develop a positive attitude toward science, and increase scientific literacy — all while having fun! There will be a different program each day. Baseball (Grades 1-4 & 5-8)
Unlimited Sports Baseball program allows players to learn and polish their baseball skills. Through mini-skill stations and baseball game activities, players experience a fun, competitive environment, learn the values of team building, and increase their knowledge of the game. Basic skills covered include hitting, base running, and throwing/catching drills. More advanced skills include tag ups and fielding situations. Required Equipment: Baseball Glove Location: At Camp
Creative Writing (Grades 4-8)
Writopia Lab runs creative writing workshops for kids and tweens led by published, award- winning writers and teachers. Children are encouraged to complete at least one well-developed, polished piece over the course of the week. Writopia’s mission is to foster joy, literacy, and critical thinking through creative writing. At the beginning of the workshop, each kid chooses to write in the genre of his/her choosing. The workshops are peppered with fun, social, and highly productive games. Location: Mid-Island Y JCC
Martial Arts (Grades 3-6)
Focuses on discipline and control. Come learn the ancient art of karate and jiu jitsu. Build confidence, exercise, and have fun!

Get ready to cheer! Learn stunting, tumbling, and choreography with other campers.

Basketball (Grades 1-4 & 5-8)
The basketball program through Unlimited Sports Action is tailored to the needs of every level of player. Participants are divided into groups and taught basic skills as well as gameplay scenarios. Skills taught range from lay-ups and jump shots to how to pick and roll and use of the correct pivot foot — all in a fun and competitive environment. Location: At Camp
Dynamic Wrestling (Grades 3-8)
Learn wrestling with a 2 time All-American wrestler and World Champion Jiu Jitsu coach. Campers will be matched by level from beginner to advanced. Learn discipline and strategies in this ancient martial art.

ROCKBAND...
School of Rock is all about curating a new generation of music-minded students who get to balance education with all the fun and awesomeness of a great jam session. Whether you can play guitar, bass, drums, piano, or vocals, you will be equipped with the right gear, including experienced teachers and music fundamentals! A performance-based approach is used which helps build many skills such as confidence, teamwork, innovation, art and humor.
Rockband: Rookies Program (Ages 6-7)
Builds a foundation in music with concepts in rhythm, pitch, history, and what it means to perform. Provides hands-on training with various instruments while understanding song structure.
Rockband: Rock 101 Program (Ages 7-10)
Get a taste of what it’s like to play in a band, understand instrumentation, and be part of a team. Develop greater proficiency on a chosen instrument. Location: School of Rock, 540 Smith St., Farmingdale

Flag Football (Grades 1-4 & 5-8)
This program teaches all aspects of regular football without the tackling and high level of contact. Players learn everything from how to line up before the snap of the ball to how to properly get open to receive a pass. This class teaches football through a short skills period at the beginning of the session and ending with a full flag football game to reinforce what was learned that day. All players receive great instruction and crucial gameplay experience. Location: At camp
Jewelry/Fashion Design (Ages 8-13)
Participants learn hands-on sewing skills by actually creating a garment that they can wear. The excellent instructors currently work in the industry as apparel, costume, and accessory designers, as well as fashion illustrators whose clients range from Sesame Street to Target! Kids get to use sewing machines to create a tote bag and learn about creating a fashion brand and logo and the fashion figure and how to draw poses. They will also look at fabric repeats, block print their own fabric, and design a 5-piece collection for their brand inspired by a chosen time period. There will also be a 30-minute Fashion Illustration class where students work on creating a collection of clothing designs. Location: At HKC

TRANSPORTATION
All children who participate in these programs and also attend our camp that week will be bused to and from camp if the program is off site. All children who register for these programs and do not attend the Mid-Island Y JCC Summer camp must be dropped off and picked up at the specialty camp location.
