Melanie will be offering new programming and opportunities while maintaining a warm and loving atmosphere for our early childhood students and campers.

Assistant Director, Early Childhood Center

Mary received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and Behavioral Studies from the University of Hartford. She taught in preschools in New York, Connecticut and California for the last eleven years. Her classroom experience ranges from ones through pre-k but she has specialized in working with 2-4 year olds for the majority of her career. Mary looks forward to working closely with our Early Childhood Center families and the teachers.

Infant-Toddler Supervisor

Jean has been a part of the JCC family for the past 14 years. She has a BA in communications, and a CDA in Infant/Toddler Development. Both of her sons been JCC preschoolers, and are now Second-Home Daycare and Camp staff members. Jean has been one of our Early Childhood classroom teachers for the past 11 years, and has taught in every EC age group.

Family Engagement/Enrollment Coordinator

Rebecca has an MA in Elementary Education, and holds her N-6th NYS certification. She also has over 20 years of experience working with children from birth through to high school. Rebecca is a long-standing teacher in our Early Childhood Center, and has served as an inclusion supervisor for Camp Adler for the past 7 years. She is looking forward to an exciting summer as the EC Preschool Camp Supervisor.

Administrative Assistant

Marcy has been part of the Mid-Island Y family for almost 10 years. Starting in Health & Fitness, and then working on our agency’s special events, Marcy has now become a member of the Early Childhood Center’s office staff. Marcy has a BA from SUNY Albany, and 2 sons and a husband who can be seen all around the Y!

Camp Director

Josh has worked at the Mid-Island Y JCC Summer Camp since 1994. This summer will be his eleventh summer as Camp Director. His extensive experience and innovative programming are what makes our summer camps a place that will enrich the lives of your children and give them an amazing summer camp experience.

Assistant Camp Director

Jodi has a Master's Degree in Elementary Education in both general and special education. She is a native of Long Island and lifelong camper since the age of three. Jodi has worked in both day and sleepaway camps and spent the past five years as a Director of a local day camp. She brings over 18 years of classroom experience in the New York City public school system and private school settings. Jodi is thrilled to be rejoining the MIYJCC family.

Teen Program Supervisor

Stephanie has her Masters in Social Work and has a lot of experience working with teenagers, the special needs population, and in summer camps. She will be supervising all teen services including leadership, community service, and social programming.

Administrative Assistant

Stephanie is the Administrative Assistant in our Youth & Camp office. She has a Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in psychology. She has been an executive assistant in the corporate world for over 15 years. Her daughter is currently enrolled in the Early Childhood program and loves it. She looks forward to working with all our youth and teen families.

Special Needs

Sharon obtained a Master’s degree in Social Work and has more than 15 years of experience working with young children through adults with special needs. Her extensive experience includes day camps, social skills building programs as well as program development and curriculum.

Adler Center For Special Needs

Lauren has been a part of the JCC for the past 14 years. She runs the logistics of our Adler Center for Special Needs. She coordinates the daily operations of the office, takes registration for all classes and programming, and helps keep the lines of communication wide open.

Camp Adler Supervisor

Jen has been a paraprofessional for 15 years in the New York City Department of Education. She has attended or worked at summer camps since the age of 13 and has 15 years experience working with children and teens with special needs in the camp environment. Her true love of camp life translates into her support of her staff and her dediction to her campers, making sure they have an amazing camp experience.

Camp Adler Assistant Supervisor

Steve was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He earned his MA in School Psychology and his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University. He has been a licensed psychologist serving the Long Island community for 24 years.

 

Steve works full time in the Wantagh School District as a psychologist where he started a special needs summer program. He also maintains a private practice in Wantagh and has been teaching future school psychologists at Adelphi University for the past 9 years.

 

Steve’s earliest jobs were as a counselor at the Mid-Island Y JCC camp and he has served as a unit head in travel camp; he is coming home.

Transportation

Transportation Supervisor

Rob owned and operated a transportation company for 22 years. He's been working in the School Bus industry for the past 10 years. Currently, Rob is our Transportation Supervisor, and is responsible for all transportation for the entire agency. He has worked with us in this capacity since 2012.
